The four accused were shot dead on NH-44 near Hyderabad -- the same highway-- where the charred body of a 27-year-old veterinarian was found.
A three-member inquiry commission on the encounter killings of four suspects in a case of gang-rape and murder of a veterinarian (named changed as Disha) in Hyderabad in December 2019 revealed that the firing by the police personnel was deliberate.

In the Cyberabad incident, all the four accused were killed at one go in an exchange of fire. Police in both the cases claimed that the suspects 'snatched' their weapons and opened fire at them forcing them to retaliatory action 'in self-defence'.
The first post mortem was conducted on December 6, the day they were killed, in a state-run hospital in Mahabubnagar from where the bodies were subsequently shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.
The bench noted that "conflicting versions about the incident demands an inquiry to uncover the true facts".
